Would you have to pay for it?

Participant 1: Okay, if you are reporting it, like um, formally, would you have to pay for it? Or the school does? Or does your insurance cover it? [...] Like, going through trial and stuff, if it gets to that, who's going to pay for that?
Participant 2: You all know you have to pay for that.
Facilitator: It wouldn't go to court, though, cause' it's under the school policy. If you decided to go outside of that and call the police, that's when you're like on your own, in terms of lawyer and courts.

Recommendations

  • If no such statement exists, encourage development of an official statement prohibiting and clearly outlining consequences for retaliation against complainants. Highlight this statement in information and awareness materials and sessions.

  • Communicate clearly that university-based SV/SA supports are offered free of charge
